A Syracuse neurologist is looking for volunteers for three studies related to Alzheimers disease research.
1. One study looks at home-based assessments and which method of information gathering is more practical: telephone, mail or electronic kiosks.
You may qualify if you are age 75 or older, are fluent in English, are able to live independently, have normal mental function, are willing to take multivitamins provided by the study and are able to answer a dial telephone, have access to secure mail or possess minimal computer skills or have a willingness to learn.
2. Another study assesses the safety of once-daily dosing of an investigational treatment for patients with mild to moderate Alzheimers disease.
You may qualify if you are 50 to 80 years old, have a diagnosis of Alzheimers disease with mild to moderate symptoms, have been taking Aricept for at least six months and have a regular caregiver who is willing to attend visits and oversee your compliance with study procedures.
3. The third study is an investigational treatment for slowing the progression of Alzheimers.
You may qualify if you are between ages 50 and 88, have a diagnosis of Alzheimers disease and have a caregiver who is willing to be involved in the study.
